Enigma People Solutions is delighted to have been engaged by the emerging market leader in optical networking equipment used in data centres and telecoms sites. Entering a critical phase of growth and development of its R&D function this well funded and high growth business is looking to identify a Product and Test Engineer to join the existing team.

Reporting to the Test Engineering Manager this important role will help solve complex engineering problems and drive successful and robust solutions. You will be an integral part of the product and test function to support the volume manufacture of leading edge optoelectronic products.

Your role will include:

- Ensure effective test capability for optoelectronic transceivers, and corresponding sub-assemblies (e.g. lasers on carrier)

- Utilize regular and ad-hoc bulk data analysis to monitor yields and investigate engineering issues.

- Issue reports and make recommendations for product and process improvements.

- Ensure high uptime, robustness and efficiency of test in a 24/7 production environment; be the go-to engineer for the operations team.

- Provide and maintain detailed documentation of test systems, including Work Instructions, Maintenance Procedures, OCAPs, BOMs, etc.

- Ensure the test function operates to internal standards and take responsibility for passing internal and external quality audits. Showcase the test area to customers, investors, and other stakeholders.

- Understand test from the micro level to the macro level, with the ability to work at all levels, from operator to CEO.

- Continual improvement: seek to constantly improve the overall test capability, incrementally or more radically as appropriate.

- Work closely with the R&D team to develop new and improved test solutions; take responsibility for introducing improvements to the manufacturing area and ensuring fitness for purpose.

- Work closely with production to ensure that the manufacturing needs are satisfied. Train engineers, technicians and trainers to enable effective test.

- Take responsibility for product yield: ongoing monitoring, product debug, trials on new products and specifications, etc.

Requirements:

- Education and Experience:

- BSc Physical Sciences / Electrical and Electronic Engineering / Mechatronics or similar

- Experience in any of product, test or process engineering, preferably in the optical, optoelectronic, or electronic sectors

- Manufacturing experience in a cross-disciplinary environment viewed favourably

- Experience of developing, releasing and maintaining automated test equipment would be a huge benefit, with experience in any of Python, C# and C++
