Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit an Oracle DBA for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of c.£400-500/day (inside of IR35) based in Edinburgh.

Responsibilities:

* Responsible for business as usual IT Support for applications that use Oracle Database (12c) and are hosted on Oracle Hardware running Solaris 11.

* Developing standards or guidelines to be used in operation and acquisition of software; modifying existing database or management systems; supervising testing or installation of computer systems.

* Manages database configuration(s) including installing and upgrading software servers.

* Monitor trends in database activity and ensures efficient access to data.

* Plan for backup and recovery of database information.

* Help to resolve problems and faults occurring in the operation of hardware and software.

* Install or remove hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools within established procedures.

*Initiates action to maintain or improve installation procedures and standards.

Requirements:

* Significant working knowledge of Oracle Relational database structures, operation and support. (12c and for E-Business Application).

* Working knowledge of using Unix operating system (Solaris 11) and script writing.

* Experience technically approving, scheduling, planning, and supervising the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems, such as the installation of new databases.

Desirable Skills:

* Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

* Knowledge of server hardware and storage technology used to run applications.
