The Senior IT Project Manager:

Reporting to the Head of IT Services & Delivery the Senior Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of specific projects or activities within the overall programme and to ensure that Project governance is enforced.

The position holder will also have responsibility for deputising for the Head of IT Services & Delivery as and when required.

The Senior Project Manager will manage projects on a day-to-day basis and will also have responsibility for the management and development of the Project Management Team.

Senior IT Project Manager Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Scope Management:

+ Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders

+ Direct and manage project development from beginning to end

+ Develop project plans and associated communications documents

+ Liaise with and present to project stakeholders on an ongoing basis

+ Ensure sufficient change control process and procedures are enforced for change management

Planning:

+ Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools

+ Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals

+ Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path

+ Identify and work with stakeholders to manage project risks

+ Conduct project post implementation review and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements

Execution:

+ Track project milestones and deliverables.

+ Manage the project budget

+ Develop and deliver regular project reports for the entire project base

+ Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

+ Develop and enforce best practices for project governance, execution and management

+ Responsible for ensuring a communication plan is in place and enforced across the business to assist with the delivery of projects

Leadership:

+ Manage the Personal Development Plans and Reviews with the members of the Project Management Team

+ Act as a coach and mentor to more junior members of the Project Management Team

+ Conduct monthly 121 meetings with the members of the Project Management Team

+ Schedule regular department meetings

Senior IT Project Manager Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential Skills:

+ Has experience of managing multiple, simultaneous projects within an IT Department.

+ Has experience of managing large complex projects

+ Has experience of managing data migration projects

+ Has demonstrable experience of project management lifecycle principles, theories and techniques

+ Demonstrated experience working with agile and/or waterfall SDLC

+ Demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

+ Prince 2 Practitioner

+ Excellent communication and presentation skills

Desirable Skills:

+ Experience of managing staff in a line and matrix environment.

+ Experience of Software Testing principles, theories and techniques.

+ Proven people management skills and strong leadership qualities

+ Managing and coordinating projects across multiple time zones / countries
