Let's face it, looking for a new job can be stressful. Endlessly scouring the online job boards, wading through hundreds of poorly written, copy and pasted adverts all failing to do one thing...

Give you actual information about the role!

So with that in mind, I wanted to take some time to write up a short (and hopefully sweet) advert that should give you some genuine insight into what this role consists of. Ready?

Here we go...

I have partnered up with one of my long-standing clients who are looking to recruit an experienced but hybrid candidate, with a focus on both System Architecture and Technical Consultancy. The organisation themselves are a well known and award-winning IT Consultancy with offices all over the world and this role sits within the digital arm of their organisation, focusing on the design and delivery of a range of Pega solutions. The focus of this piece of work is enterprise and this role will give you the chance to get involved in a highly strategic program.

Your role will be hybrid in that you will get involved in various areas of the project including participating in requirements analysis, formulating architecture best practices, preparing high-level technical documentation/designs and guiding the team as and when required. Your role will also be hugely stakeholder-facing, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders across both technical and business-facing disciplines, acting as something of a bridge between IT and the wider BAU.

Due to the nature of the business, this role will involve travel and you would be expected to spend a large amount of time on client site. The vast majority of this would be in the UK (South East) but there would be occasional demands for European travel so an openess to mobility is a firm requirement to be considered for this role. However, as with most consulting roles, there is also an element of home working available so you wouldn't be expected to be away from your family/friends for weeks on end!

In terms of some of the key requirements, I have listed them below:

Pega Systems - the main focus of this role will involve the design and delivery of Pega solutions so it is imperative that you have a minimum of 5 years' commercial experience working with Pega (ideally Pega PRPC v 7.0 or higher). You should have a comprehensive understanding of a range of Pega features (e.g. customer service, smart disputes, upgrade, customer decision hub) and experience both designing and estimating complx Pega solutions using OOB. You should also hold a CLSA certification.

E2E Architcture - you should have a comprehensive understanding of E2E system architecture and high-level E2E solution design, with a preference given for experience delivering enterprise solutions. Moreover, experience with Web Services and Web architecture (JSON, REST, SOAP, WSDL) would be hugely beneficial.

Stakeholder Management - due to the consultancy nature of the role, a proven track record liaising with stakeholders (both technical and business-facing) is crucial, with a preference given for candidates who come from a consulting background. Your role will involve working directly on-site with end customers and you will be expected to work in embedded teams, so strong communication skills and the ability to speak to both internal and external stakeholders is key.

Leadership & Management - Whilst not being a management role in the same vein as a Development Manager or Project Manager, your role will still involve a large element of leadership so basic management skills would be useful. You will be expected to act as a conduit between various stakeholders and will be leading projects to some degree, so any experience in a leadership capacity would be beneficial.

But in my personal opinion, what they are truly looking for are passionate technologists with a genuine drive to succeed - cliche I know, but you get my drift.
