A Deputy Director of Security is required with experience of working in Government, general Cyber Security experience and of working with senior managers. PLEASE NOT THAT THIS ROLE IS INSIDE IR35

Essential Skills and Experience:

1 - Manage and align all internal and external security-related activities including standards, external engagements, strategy, governance, delivery, operations, security risk management, assurance of internal and external services, and physical and personnel security.

2 - Work to ensure existing and emerging security principles and standards are reflected in the implementation of government digital transformation.

3 - Forge strong relationships with security and transformation leads across government to ensure aligned and compatible security approaches are adopted to all government transformational services.

4 - Ensure wider government is sufficiently aware of transformational security and counter-fraud issues through the Digital Academy.

5 - Build and mature security and fraud communities across government that focus on issues and solutions relating to transformation.

6 - Prioritise, manage and assure security, cyber and counter-fraud work.

7 - Ensure cross-government service and technology standards, architecture, models, patterns, principles, best practice, service assurance / compliance and spend controls reflect transformation security, cyber and counter-fraud needs.

8 - Ensure work aligns with wider government security standards and reporting agenda, and influence the evolution of those standards to reflect transformation needs.

9 - Understand the key threats to transformed and transforming services across UK government departments, including those built and operated by GDS.

10 - Act as Security Security Advisor, advising the Director General, the senior management team and the Government Chief Security Officer on security issues and remediation relating to services and operations.

11 - Ensure services are developed to be safe and secure by design

12 - Ensure a mature and robust information assurance and security risk management regime, and manage ensuing security risks.

13 - Ensure the secure operation of services is fit for purpose, including threat, intelligence, vulnerability and incident management, and be responsible for associated short-term and long-term remediation.

14 - Ensure mature physical, personnel and education / awareness security measures are in place.

15 - Ensure commercial and financial frameworks and governance processes reflect transformational security, cyber and counter-fraud needs.

Due to the nature and urgency of this post, candidates holding or who have held high level security clearance in the past are most welcome to apply. Please note successful applicants will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment which can take up to a minimum 18 weeks.
