* Production of process design documentation including mass and energy balances, PFDs, P&ID's, BOD and COD analysis, process description and supporting calculations for bio-waste, biosolids, oil separation, biogas clean-up and plastics disposal projects from initial concept through detailed design and construction, up to as-built.

* Key technical focal point for sales, providing technical clarifications and project execution details from early studies in support of commercial bids, through to detailed process design across a range of project scales. Leading HAZID, HAZOP, PHA & SIL safety reviews and carrying out design risk assessments, developing safety basis of design, operating philosophies and other safety related studies required in-house, by clients or other bodies.

* Equipment sizing and process/mechanical datasheet preparation for vessels, tanks, pumps, boilers, compressors, evaporators, heat exchangers, CHP units, centrifuges, separators, absorption chillers, control valves, relief valves, flares, utilities, hydraulics and other process equipment and services. Setting up simulations where necessary to emulate logic sequences for design improvement, operator training or third party studies.

* Providing support for on-site commissioning, troubleshooting and debottlenecking.

* Providing clear mass / energy balance and process specification details based on sound scientific analysis and observed data, enables rapid early designs and accurately informs the bid team, assisting them to win new contracts.

Early design and process risk assessments enable the design team to proceed with fewer iterations thus improving their efficiency and reducing cost.

1 What does success look like?

* Accurate bids and pricing based on sound process details.

* Right first time process designs.

* High levels of process safety acknowledged and implemented within the design from day one.

* Plants which operate at designed capacity, high efficiency, high availability and with low maintenance intervention.

*

1 Major responsibilities (core areas of work)

* Production of mass and energy balances.

* Production of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD).

* Production of Process & Instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).

* Production of process flow calculations including identification and use of Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) data.

* Production of simulations showing logic sequences.Process Safety:

* Carry out design risk assessments. Identify and manage residual risks through to handover.

* Identify basis of safety for all process steps and ensure transmission to designers and operators.

* Lead Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard & Operability (HAZOP) studies.

* Manage closure of HAZID & HAZOP actions.
