Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit an Oracle Developer for an initial 3 month contract based in Edinburgh on rate of c.£350-400/day(outside of IR35).

Responsibilities:

* Work closely with the Digital Technologies Manager, incumbent suppliers and other business functions to oversee the redevelopment and or upgrading of core systems so that they can be virtualised and migrated to a new private-cloud datacentre.

* Act as an Oracle subject matter expert in Application Development, Application Management and Systems Integration.

* Coordinate functional and non-functional systems testing, and assist the business with the creation of test scripts and scenarios.

* Provide key input into the configuration and testing of back-up and disaster recovery solution.

* Assist with establishing a service continuity strategy and testing plan to ensure that application SLAs and OLAs align to the corporate Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

* Provide technical recommendations to the business in relation to Oracle based software solutions and related emerging technologies, in particular those that may assist with the transition process.

* Establish production, development and test environments within the datacentre and document testing and change-control procedures.

* Implement solutions that will enable the high-availability of core applications.

* Provide systems documentation and knowledge base articles.

Provide regular highlight reports to the Project Manager and escalate issues accordingly.

Requirements:

* Experience with the following technologies: Oracle Forms 10g, 11g, 12c, Oracle Reports 10g, 11g, 12c, Oracle SQL & PL/SQL 10g, 11g, 12c, Oracle APEX 3.1 to higher versions.

* Experience of migration of Oracle Forms from version 10g to 12c.

* Experience of migration of Oracle Reports from version 10g to 12c.

* Experience of migration of Oracle Apex from version 3.1 to higher versions.

* Experience leading on software projects using project management methodologies

Understanding of Oracle systems architectures including server clustering, database and recovery processes.

* Familiar with Oracle licensing, especially for optimisation for virtualisation

Linux server installations, maintenance and administration.

* Experience integrating multi-technology platforms using Oracle Forms, APEX and Fusion Middleware.

* Experience monitoring the performance of applications using optimisation tools and techniques.

Desirable Skills:

* Experience of process modelling and translating requirements into software solutions.

* Experience upgrading systems to Oracle v12c.

* Knowledge of software development lifecycles.

* Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.

* Experience user training and explaining technical information to a non-technical audience.

* Knowledge of ITIL and industry best practices.

* An understanding of enterprise security standards (e.g. PSN, ISO27001).
