This role will see you lead an aspirational and motivated team to help to develop our organisation’s strategic ambitions. An inspiring mentor for up to 10 project-focused team members; you’ll build and enhance a great working environment and be a key figure within your local leadership group. You will also use your considerable talent to personally lead high performance project teams, demonstrating excellent behaviours, collaborative working and continually building a strong network of working relationships both inside and outside the organisation. You will also have demonstrated strong commercial acumen in contract management and developing effective and trusting supply partner relationships.

We’ll expect you to enhance the entire project delivery process, from the initial strategic planning phase all the way into implementation, construction and delivery; with project executive experience being advantageous. Communication and leadership will be crucial, and you’ll build strong collaborative relationships across the Environment Agency, our supply partners and with our local communities.

You will be a passionate leader, with the ability to build a great working environment to bring the best out of collaborative and high performing teams, including our supply partners, spread across different locations. Ideally, but not exclusively, you will have experience working on civil engineering projects; with a skill for tackling tough challenges, and embedding excellence and knowledge sharing. This experience and expertise will assure our project outcomes are achieved and long lasting relationships maintained. Project Executive experience would be advantageous.

Ideally, you’ll have two years line management experience and five years project management experience. Being qualified as a PRINCE2 or APM Practitioner, would be an advantage but you don’t necessarily have to bring contract or construction experience. It’s the way you inspire people and innovate to deliver complex, high-risk projects and programmes that will set you apart - along with big-picture thinking that improves our operations daily.

A full driving licence is also essential, as some travel is involved; although the use of public transport is preferred.

A rewarding environment

There are exceptional benefits to look forward to here, including a generous pension and substantial leave. We offer a range of flexible working options, including flexi-time and part time/job share, where possible, so you can strike the right balance between work and home life. We try our best to accommodate personal commitments.

Naturally, we want you to be the best in your field. So expect training and development that helps you grow professionally. We will also pay your fees for one professional membership.

We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community who wish to join an organisation which values everyone. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME), disabled, female and LGBT+ candidates, so that our team really does represent and understand the communities we work with. We want all our people to feel good about where they work and why they come to work, that they can be themselves without fear of judgement or prejudice and that all views are equally respected and valued. We believe everyone should have an equal chance of achieving their life goals. Diversity: it’s in our nature.
