Java Developer - Full stack software engineer | 6 months | Cardiff

We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer with good Java, front-end and back-end knowledge who can strengthen an existing team and support ambitious international growth plans. The role is based in Cardiff to contributing to the system software design within a dynamic and fast-pace Agile environment.

Location: Cardiff

Rate: £400 per day (£53 per hour)

Length: 6 months +

Start Date: ASAP, before end of the year at the latest

The role involves:

* Collaborating with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new features.

* Delivering software solutions in a fast-paced Agile environment

* Working with graphic designs and converting designs to visual elements.

* Developing and maintaining software quality and ensuring responsiveness of applications databases and integrations.

* Maintaining code integrity and organisation.

* Understanding and implementing security and data protection.

* Maintaining build environments and source control tools

* Assisting with day to day support of customer installations and troubleshooting.

Candidate skills and experience:

Essential:

* +5 years full stack Java development experience.

* Knowledge of analytics technologies preferably Spark and noSQL such as MongoDB.

* Highly experienced with back-end programming languages Java, J2EE, Servlet, JDBC

* Proficient experience using advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as AngularJS, Spring and any other frameworks

* Web client and UI programming experience, ideally using Javascript and AngularJS

* Experience with message APIs/brokers for example Kafka and Zookeeper.

* Front-end Unit testing experience

* Knowledge of code versioning tools such as SVN.

* Must be enthusiastic with attention to detail, a passion for technology and the ability to communicate well.

* Formal education with a degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, Computer engineering or similar discipline.

Desirable

* Experience working in Agile environments.

* Multi-threading development experience

* Back-end Unit testing using any framework

* Experience using OpenLayers and Openstreetmap

* Integration experience using Websockets

* Experience designing and implementing the integration of software systems with third party equipment/systems ideally including marine surveillance radar, visual monitoring systems, voice radio communications systems and satellite communications.
