IT Operations Manager

Our client is the charity that saves lives at sea. They are currently recruiting an experienced IT Operations Manager to lead the planning, delivery and support of their systems in line with the organisation’s business objectives and Technology Vision.

The role will report to our client’s Head of IT, working with multiple senior stakeholders to develop their people, processes and systems. Our client’s aim to enable and inspire all in the charity that use Information Technology systems. It is essential to keep the organisation’s mission-critical systems online and effective, thereby directly supporting their lifesaving teams.

This is an important role for our client, it will:

- Co-ordinate and actively participate with Technology colleagues and groups across the charity to support delivery of the Technology Vision for the organisation; ensuring that the new and current programmes of work form a strong and stable platform for the longer-term future.

- Understand what matters most to colleagues, any existing technical risks to be addressed, emerging technology trends to be leveraged and Continuous Improvement opportunities.

- Creating the support services strategy and roadmap for the future (ensuring alignment to strategic and tacticalbusiness objectives) and leading on its execution.

- Lead IT support services including IT Helpdesk, Data Centre Services (Server support and hosting), Desktop, Network and Telecommunications and over-arching Service Management aspects to ensure agreed expectations are met and that value for money is always evident.

- Manage related partners, service contracts and budgets, ensuring the effective use of resources to deliver a high performing service that enables more efficient and effective business outcomes.

- Deliver a cutting-edge, first class IT support experience to a distributed and extremely diverse user base that staff and volunteers can rely on. It will anticipate and manage needs proactively and respond with an appropriate sense of urgency and quality of output.

To be considered, you will need a degree level qualification and/or substantial experience in the IT industry in a senior management capacity.

The following is also essential:

- Working as a generalist IT leader at a senior level, including working with a broad range of stakeholders

- Strategic level business and/or IT planning and the ability to distil and deliver strategic initiatives

- Managing an IT support function, ideally in a primarily Microsoft-based environment

- Managing complex technical support teams and demonstrable IT infrastructure experience and knowledge

- Achieving results by working collaboratively with others at all levels of seniority

- Project management
