Network Engineer (CCNP/CCDP) - 6 Month Contract - Port Sunlight

Network Engineer (CCNP/CCDP) required to join a reputable manufacturer of Fast Moving Consumer Goods located in Port Sunlight on a 6 month contract.

Travel and Hours:

This role will be based in Port Sunlight with travel to Europe. Travel will be as and when and you could potentially be away for 3 days at a time. Due to this contract being an installation project, there may also be some weekend and evening work involved.

The role:

You will be working within a team, whose focus is to provide internal users of the network with an excellent and uninterrupted service globally enabling the business to win in the market. You will also be responsible for providing a range of support services to the Global Network Solutions and Capability Manager.

Skills / Experience

* Networking technologies (Cisco, Aruba)

* WAN, LAN Wi-Fi and Network security technologies.

* CCNP/CCDP or equivalent, focusing on key technical areas such as WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, Security

* Techo commercial evaluation of supplier proposal documents

* Commercial awareness

* An understanding of financial principles

* Previous experience of working in a fast moving and quickly changing environment

* Experience of hands on maintenance and support of network infrastructure

* 3rd line support of Network Infrastructure in complex multi-national environments.

* Techo commercial evaluation of supplier proposal documents.

* Working within a European and Global context.

* Previous experience of working in either a network solution or technical implementation role.

* 5 to 7 years of total telecom experience.

* Strong experience on Routing Protocols (e.g. OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), Switching and Networking Basics (like TCP/IP, TCP UDP, OSI Model etc.)

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

* Managing third party supplier relationships and internal stakeholders to ensure that any network changes do not compromise the integrity, security and operational performance of existing services and technology.

* Ensuring that the infrastructure continues to function effectively in line with changing requirements.

* Solution design, hardware selection, physical implementation/configuration and transition to service.

* Maintains the environment through the application of fixes, updated versions from suppliers, capacity management, end-of-life management.

* Can act as a hands-on technical resource to extended project teams.

* Perform root cause analysis (RCA) to ensure everything has been done to determine the cause of incidents and ensure suitable workarounds and resolutions are identified.
