Senior Developer - Digital Services

Manchester City Centre

Band 7 £33,222 - £43,041

Closing Date - 21 November 2018

We are looking for a passionate, experienced Senior Developer who cares about software quality, can take responsibility for solving complex issues, loves learning and sharing new skills and is interested in growing the development team. And because we’re keen to attract talent, we are also offering a £5,000 p.a recruitment and retention premium on top of salary.

Here at NICE we are driving excellence in public health and social care, through our work with government bodies, the NHS and health professionals. We design products to support practitioner decisions, quality improvement and performance management. Our stakeholders range from patient groups to pharmaceuticals, professional bodies to health and social care practitioners and publishers. We are passionate about what we do, its contribution to the health and social care system, and to improving outcomes for patients.

You’ll take ownership of the high quality code and tests you produce. You’ll thrive using agile methods and enjoy working openly, collaboratively and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You’ll be familiar with modern frameworks, languages and tools, as well as working practices such as automated testing, continuous integration, pairing and code review. Above all, you’ll want to make NICE and its digital services better, whilst having fun along the way.

Our small agile teams of developers, designers, business analysts and others, build a minimum viable product, then measure and iterate. We’re constantly improving our services to make them simpler, clearer and faster for our 2 million users a month.

We solve challenging problems with interesting technology but it’s not all about the tech. We encourage personal development, both technically and professionally. We do this through training, conferences, our library, through "air and share" sessions within the team and communities of practice.

What we can offer you

Our 60 strong Digital Services team think NICE is a great place to work. Quality really matters to us and our stakeholders. That needs both individual and team effort.

So we will give you the freedom and space to think, the head room to play to your strengths and the opportunity to develop new ones - all in a friendly, supportive environment.

The NICE commitment to health and well-being encourages and supports a good work/life balance. We offer 27 days paid leave, which increases with length of service, plus public holidays.

Our flexible working arrangements also include home working, compressed hours and support for carers when needed, and enhanced maternity pay.

Our offices in Manchester city centre have great transport links, with interest free season ticket loans, bike and shower facilities, a car lease scheme, and a large common room with kitchen, TV, daily papers, free hot drinks.

And we offer membership of the generous NHS pension scheme
