This IT and Telecoms company are currently seeking a Technical Support Engineer (1st Line) to join an existing team that is responsible for ensuring that IT services achieve high levels of availability and reliability. The Head Office is based in Bolton.

As a Technical Engineer, you will be required to support systems and associated tools which facilitate continuous proactive monitoring of customers systems but also aid in the delivery of software into production.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ideal candidate would have at least 2 years support experience doing general IT support including password resets and printer setups

- To be able to attend sites and perform hardware installation and swap outs

- To ensure that the central backup system operates optimally. To monitor daily backups and report exceptions formally escalating if a backup has failed.

- To participate as a member of the support team assigned to resolve incidents emanating from the business via the Service Desk on a first line basis.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The candidate would need a good standard of education.

PREFERRED SKILLS

- Microsoft systems experience - Windows Server 2008/2012

- VMware / HyperV experience

- Microsoft Exchange 2010 / 2013

- Experience with network topologies including firewalls, switches and routers

- A detailed understanding of networking both Local Area and Wide Area

- Full UK Driving Licence - Clean
