Solution Architect (Insurance) - Financial Services, Reinsurance, Insurance, Solutions Architecture

City of London - Permanent - £85,000 - £100,000 (plus benefits)

Solution Architect - we are looking to recruit a seasoned Solution Architect to join a world leading reinsurance financial services company. This will work within our clients' IT Business Solutions team whom are responsible for delivering business value through the management of IT products including implementation of change projects in a disciplined, business focused, engaged and methodical way.

As a Solution Architect, you'll have the ability to make a significant impact to the organization by supporting the growth strategy and competitive positioning of MRSG business units.

Solution Architecture designs and implements IT solutions to meet business requirements in accordance with enterprise and technical architecture. Existing patterns, frameworks and tools are utilised to create state of the art, maintainable and cost efficient IT solutions to meet flexible business demands.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential

* Thought leadership - able to monitor market trends and to drive creative thinking on future technology capabilities which support digitalization of business processes and increase business value.

* Strong project delivery background. Ideal several years of experience in systems integration / software development as an architect and hence in-depth knowledge of the processes of the entire software development and product life cycle. Experience in London insurance market highly desirable.

* Strong knowledge about clean coding, object-oriented development principles, patterns, UML and agile development practices as well as DevOps principles

* Deep technical knowledge in web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, enterprise application architecture, cloud architecture as well as experience managing expectations when balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints. Common frameworks such as e.g. REST, struts, spring, hibernate, etc. and familiar Database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, JDBC, SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures)

* Track record of successful implementations that delivered value to the business, resulting in measurable business outcomes

* Willingness to travel internationally

Desirable

* Know-how about TDD (test driven design), unit testing and automated testing (frameworks) desirable.

* Deep understanding of operational impacts from business and IT change

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

* University degree, preferably in Computer engineering / IT or similar qualification

* ITIL-certified (desirable)

* Agile Methodologies
