The Requirement

A fantastic opportunity for a Microsoft Database Administrator looking to build a career in the financial services sector. The Company requires a full time permanent SQL Server DBA, to join the Development Operations team. The candidate will be primarily responsible for managing and maintaining the SQL Server Database environment along with helping set out the Database Architecture and Strategic Roadmap.

It provides flexible outsourced dealing, custody and settlement services to a range of institutional clients.

The Role

The remit of the role requires a pro-active and enthusiastic individual, with excellent communication skills who would enjoy the challenge of a fast paced evolutionary environment. Predominately the key responsibility of the role is to be responsible for the management and maintenance of the various SQL Server database environments from a DBA perspective. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the SQL Server infrastructure is fit for purpose paying particular attention to security, performance, and high availability. There are opportunities to work on other database technologies such as PROGRESS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB. A conscious commitment to continuous personal development in relevant technical knowledge, technologies, and skill development is key, as is, a desire to progress within the Information Technology arena preferably within the Financial Services Sector.

Requirements:

* Strong and recent experience of designing, building and managing SQL Server 2008 - 2016

* Expert in performance tuning Microsoft SQL setup.

* Control of the release process with respect to database changes.

* Strong understanding of transactional processes typical in financial systems

* Strong experience in Microsoft SSRS; SSIS and ability to ensure efficient SQL is used - thereby ensuring performance is optimised.

* Practical experience of using High Availability and Disaster Recovery components; Windows Clustering; SQL Server Log Shipping and Mirroring; Always-On (High Availability)

* Knowledge of Backup and Recovery techniques using SQL Server Backup/Restore

* SQL, T-SQL Programming experience
