This is a fantastic opportunity for a Solution Designer to join Direct Line Group, a market leading insurer based in Bromley. We’re just 15 mins from Victoria!
The role sits within the Solution Architecture team which is made up of circa 30 Architects and Designers. We are responsible for driving the design of stable, innovative and sustainable technology solutions that deliver value for the business and our customers. The team is part of the wider Chief Technology Office which is also home to our Enterprise Architecture team who we work closely with in ensuring alignment of our designs to our technology strategies, policies, principles and standards.
The team is at the focal point for all significant technology design within Direct Line Group collaborating with colleagues in Enterprise Architecture, Security Architecture, Application Development & Maintenance, Live Services, Digital and of course the wider business.
We’re looking for a creative, problem solving technologist who is able to learn fast and adapt to the challenge in hand. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving solution options and designs for a diverse, challenging and constantly evolving portfolio of work, providing you with exposure to an equally varied set of technologies and solutions.
Some key focuses will be;
-To define and own the overall solution design which satisfies project / programme requirements and aligns to the Technology strategy, architecture, policies and standards
-Provide proactive technology solution design support in the analysis, design, planning, and governance of programmes, projects and change initiatives.
-Develop, maintain, apply and share an in-depth knowledge of technology strategies, architectures and technology road maps
-Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in the strategic application of technology.
Required Skills / Essential Skills
-Prior experience as a Solution Designer or a proven Technical Lead looking to make their next career step
-Experience of producing options and designs for different types of solution e.g. re-use, rent, buy, build, hosted, cloud
-Depth and breadth of technology experience
-Ability to adapt to evolving technology options, scope and requirements
-Experience of agile and waterfall methodologies
-Broad understanding of the software delivery lifecycle
-Excellent communication skills
-Excellent stakeholder management
-A real eagerness to continue to learn and develop
-Experience of cloud based solutions
-Microservice and API design experience
