Engineering Quality Manager Manchester £60k

Huxley Engineering and an Established Name in Production of Large Machined & Fabrications Components for the Oil and Gas and Nuclear Industries are looking to recruit a Quality Control Manager role on a permanent basis for their site in the Manchester area, owing to succession planning within the business.

Reporting into the Managing Director, the Quality Control Manager will be responsible for driving, directing & controlling manufacturing quality with a small-medium batch, fast-paced Machined & Fabrication environment, to ensure that the product quality requirements of customers and projects are understood, implemented and meet the required contract specifications.

With direct line management responsibility for 6 people (Quality Engineers, Inspectors, NDT Technicians, Document Technicians), the Quality Control Manager will be responsible for:

QC Management:

Continuously review quality control processes, procedures and capabilities in order to sustain the most cost effective and efficient methods for meeting quality requirements and make/implement improvements

Review client QC requirements (Standards etc) and ensure that quality control documentation for a project meets contractual requirements, as well as reviewing & approving Contractor / Sub-Contract quality control documentation to ensure their planned activity meets contractual requirements

Resource Management:

Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of inspection personnel

Control & direct all QC resource & operations to meet project requirements

Effectively lead and develop a team of technically skilled individuals (Performance Management & Development; Induction, Training, Coaching etc), as well as day to day management of Test Centre

Compliance:

Manage & control all quality control activities to ensure all identified QA Standards, Codes, Specifications (Project / Client) are met, as well as compliance around Test Reports for Test Centre.

Assist in production of procedures, work instructions, method statements & risk assessments

Management Information:

Monitor & report on quality control progress (managing predicted shortfall or discrepancies against timescale & budget)

In addition, the Quality Control Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of a customer-focused culture (developing quality goals & targets as part of the strategic plan).

Experience & Qualifications: Quality Control Manager

Specifically, my client are looking for a Quality Control Manager who holds either a HND / Degree in Mechanical Engineering and substantial Quality Engineering, Quality Control, Quality Management experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering environment (ideally Machining & Fabrication)

In addition, the Quality Control Manager must have previous leadership experience (within a fast-paced manufacturing environment) with a strong ability to lead both the team and site.

It would be desirable for the Quality Control Manager to have previous Quality Management experience around Welding, Penetration, NDT testing, have previous Quality Audit experience (ideally having worked as a Lead Quality Auditor) and have previous experience of working with the various Quality Codes, Standards & Specifications required within the Nuclear and Oil & Gas Industries (such as ISO3834-2, EN10204 etc).

For the successful Quality Control Manager, a salary up to £60,000 plus package is on offer and this Quality Control Manager role is commutable from Manchester, Bolton, Wigan, Warrington, Rochdale, Oldham, Liverpool, Preston, Blackburn, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Bury, Chorley, St Helens, Huyton & Prescot, Clitheroe, Stockport and Burnley.
