I am currently recruiting for a lead/senior java developer to join a fantastic software house in Bury St Edmunds. They implement server-side logic and deliver business value for their client base by using Java & JSP. We are looking for someone that takes pride in the quality of their work, able to deliver high standards and someone who can act as a mentor/coach to the junior members of the team. What you will do:

Bring a positive and calculated approach to leading the Java team

Working alongside senior management & developers to improve working methods

Planning technical implantation of all projects, attending meetings & workshops

Adding technical input to BA processes

Oversee the following:Quality standard of codeDeveloper working practicesPeer testing & internal QA procedureDocumentation (writing & following)Technical implementation of each project from initial setup

Work with the CTO & CIO and ensure that tech implementation is in line with agreed approach

Host performance meetings covering quality of work, attitude & working practices

Supporting & coaching developers through additional training

Essential knowledge:

Java/JEE - well rounded knowledge of the programming language and OOP principles

JSP - Be comfortable creating JSP action files & servlets

SQL - they use PostgreSQL & MS-SQL

Web Services - be comfortable using REST and SOAP based API's

XML or JSON

Subversion or similar version control software

JavaScript, HTML & CSS
