The Shell Digital team support the Shell Retail business by creating Digital experiences for B2C customers and B2B (Fleet Solutions). The Digital team have created award winning digital products and services within the Shell App. It’s now time to take these and many new services to a wider audience through 3rd party platforms. This role will spearhead the next phase of our digital journey.

What is the role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Product Owner to own and champion world-class Developer Experience throughout our digital products/services. In this role, you will be the voice of the external developer community inside Shell. You will work closely with other Product Owners, delivery teams, and our Developer Experience scrum team to deliver products and experiences that the external developer community love and value. You will be a key player in setting up Shell to become a developer-focused company, to enable our products and services to be used by partners and customers across the world.

What you will do

Identify and validate the most important problems for developer customers

Understand and champion developer customers needs, across partners for Retail B2C (e.g OEMs) and partners/customers for Fleet Solutions by talking to them, reading customer feedback, and analyzing other data sources

Prioritize the work of our Developer Experience scrum team and own the roadmap

Ensure the onboarding, API lifecycle and support processes will allow us to scale the number of 3rd party developers using Shell’s APIs

Be accountable for Shell’s API & documentation standards

Work to create outstanding API and technical documentation

Partner with Marketing, Customer Operations, IT and sales to launch new capabilities and track their results against Shell’s business goals

Advocate how the developer experience will allow us to grow the numbers of customers using Shell’s services through new partnerships and platforms.

Review usage metrics of APIs by external partners/customers including number of users, operational & performance data with other teams

Truly embody Developer Experience, spreading your knowledge and enthusiasm for developer products throughout the organisation.

Requirements

what we need from you

Experience in Product Management with specific involvement in shaping Developer Experience/API portals

Developer experience to be technically knowledgeable on APIs/developer needs

Technical - Know what makes an API great, understand the day to day life of a developer, and are passionate about making products better for technical customers. You can have detailed conversations with external developers about their product needs, and with internal delivery teams about product capabilities and challenges

Action Orientated - You are comfortable serving as a product owner within an Agile environment. You are technical enough to convey problem statements to delivery teams with credibility and conviction. You are "hungry" and drive highly productive outcomes across the cross-functional teams you lead

Cross Functional Leader - You pull the right levers cross-functionally to get your products launched and supported. You communicate clearly and crisply. You develop trusting relationships internally and can rally the entire organization to ensure your product achieves intended business outcomes

Customer Focused - You seek deep understanding of your customers and are adept at understanding their problems and arriving at optimal solutions to those problems. You thrive in front of customers, partners, and analysts and use every external interaction to help inform your product decisions

Strategic - You absorb multiple internal and external inputs and use that information to define product strategy and prioritize the problems to solve. You can make difficult priority calls based on data and analysis and then communicate those decisions
