Production Project Manager

Role Description

An opportunity exists for a Production Project Manager to work in a leading defence technology company delivering a wide range of design, manufacturing and operational support projects to our defence customers. The successful applicant will join a diverse and dynamic team of project, engineering and other functional staff working together on an exciting project to deliver cutting edge technology to the UK's fleet of submarines on global operations.

Key accountabilities and experience required:

* Quality - ensure that entire scope of deliverable has been satisfied.

* Ensure creation & release of all requisitions, shop orders and purchase orders required to complete deliverables.

* Ensure completion of all shop orders and purchase orders required.

* Delivery - ensure that the deliverable is completed on or before the customer required by date.

* Generate and maintain a schedule (MSP or equivalent) for the deliverable.

* Ensure that requisitions, shop orders and purchase orders are created & released early enough to ensure launch on time (against schedule) of deliverable onto the shop floor.

* Ensure that shop orders are scheduled within the Master Production Schedule to allow completion of the deliverable on or before the required by date.

* Ensure that shop orders and purchase orders are completed in time to ensure the deliverable is completed on or before the required by date.

* Report progress on schedule on a weekly basis.

* Cost Management.

* Risk & Opportunity Management.

* Identify and record Risks and Opportunities that may affect the deliverable.

* Manage mitigation plans to minimise the impact of the risk and maximise the likelihood of the opportunity.

* Issue Management.

* Identify and understand issues that occur on deliverable.

* Develop recovery plans to minimise impact of issues.

* Stakeholder Engagement.

* Hold regular reviews with other functions involved in the deliverable (projects, supply chain, design, quality).

* Issue regular updates on deliverable progress to other functions involved.

Required Experience / Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally:

* Have worked in a production/manufacturing environment.

* Be experience in managing delivery of projects to time, cost and quality.

Attributes:

* A strong team player and effective communicator who is keen to drive achievement of milestones. Process oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
