Network Engineer (Mid-Senior Level) - Contract - Woking

Duration: Initial 3 Months

Start Date: October 2018

Rate: £350-£400 per day dependant on experience

The Senior Network Engineer role is to ensure the stable operation of the network and firewall infrastructure along with any supporting network services (Solar Winds, IP Management etc). This includes installing, configuring, supporting, maintaining, and optimising the network hardware, software, firewall technology and communications links.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

* Managing enterprise network environments is essential

* Degree educated or equivalent experience

* Cisco CCNA certified with CCNP being advantageous

* Advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS / Nexus (3,5,7K - VPC)

* Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches (Cat 6500/9000 - VSS), Cisco DNA, IND & ISE (Software), Cisco ASA Firewalls, Checkpoint, Cisco FirePower and TACACS+, Cisco Wireless Controllers.

* Configuration and support of core network Meraki technologies; Switches, security appliances,

* Checkpoint Firewalls and WAN Acceleration products

* Routing and Switching technologies such as BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, STP, VOIP, HSRP & VRRP

* VPN technologies specifically IPSec LAN to LAN and VPN client software

* Network and firewall performance tuning and monitoring tools (Cacti, Nagios, Nconf)

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

* Good working knowledge of load balancing technology; Riverbed, Netscaler

* General knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN or NAS

* Knowledge of network traffic prioritisation / QOS products

* Experience working within an ITIL framework

* Understanding of virtualisation, load balancing, clustering, caching processes.

* Good scripting skills in PowerShell, VBS, CMD Shell or alternatives.

* Experience in both Microsoft DNS and DHCP design, implementation and troubleshooting.
