The Business Applications Systems Manager will lead a team of Application specialists. Support the development of new system capability, understand the application landscape and manage the applications through a lifecycle from inceptions to retirement including managing SLA, BCP and DR requirements.
Overview
* Build and maintain the application portfolio, Identify opportunities to transfer application support from the division to the wider group where it makes operational and business sense to do so
* Managing governance protocols and processes for the acquisition or creation of new applications, changes to existing applications and the removal of superseded or legacy applications.
* Application support and maintenance
* Create, maintain and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for the applications.
* Manage the Applications Specialist team to provide ongoing maintenance and support for the application portfolio and associated staffing levels
* Portfolio management
* Management of the applications portfolio, working to principles to minimise application sprawl and reduce costs and complexity
* Creation and management of processes to assess the portfolio and requests for changes
* Alignment of business goals and strategy to the applications portfolio and develop application roadmaps.
Key Skills
* Background of operating in Support Services / Outsourcing industries, ideally with an engineering, training or asset management focus.
* Managing application teams across a geographically dislocated operating environment
* Detailed systems and technical knowledge of applications within the Engineering, Training and Asset Management environment desirable. To include; Asset Management, Fleet Management, Learning Management and Customer Relationship Management Systems
* Experience in managing an application portfolio
* Detailed technical knowledge of ERP systems with experience of SAP implementation and exploitation
* Proven ability to fully understand the needs of the business and successfully develop an application portfolio to support these needs
* Experience of working within a large business change programme and the ability to champion change with end users
* Demonstrable experience in managing multiple stakeholders and prioritising activity accordingly
* Experience in the development of new capabilities, through design, build and test life cycles whilst phasing out legacy systems.
* Significant experience in presenting to clients at a senior management level
