Infrastructure Lead (Web Hosting)

My nationally recognised, market leading client is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Lead to join their growing IT Team at their Burton upon Trent offices.

The Infrastructure Lead will be responsible for working with the business to support with the development and maintenance of computing technologies and contribute to the day to day support of their website content and structure.

Key responsibilities:

*Setting the strategy for the Web Hosting environment.

*Liaising with Security and Infrastructure teams to define the hosting environment. Ensuring the environment is fit for purpose, resilient and secure.

*Continuous evaluation of the hosting charges. Identifying any cost savings where appropriate and that the client obtains full benefit from their investments.

*Proactively identifying security vulnerabilities, planning and managing the appropriate actions to remove the risk.

*Assisting IT and the business with hardware sizing, installation, testing and troubleshooting of the websites and any necessary 3rd party products for both on premise and hosted installations.

*Assist the in-house Systems Administration staff and IT staff with Linux and Windows server installation, maintenance, and administration, network infrastructure planning, installation, and support, and disaster-recovery planning.

*Develop any necessary procedures and/or documents to facilitate a system that can be shared internally with the business and can manage to SLA's.

*Pro-actively identify new security trends that could lead to security vulnerabilities.

*Performance monitoring and optimisation of the hosting environments.

*Taking the lead on specific website related issues, which may be application (code based) or infrastructure related and working until completion.

*Showing a strong aptitude for troubleshooting, problem solving, root cause analysis and lateral thinking.

*Continuous business as usual duties and project related tasks.

Key skills and experience required:

*Experience leading and organising technical teams:

oEvaluate business objectives and break them down into actionable directives

oBuild and execute implementation plans

oPerform resource and capacity planning

oManage concurrent projects

*Experience of implementing and supporting AWS based instances and services

*Excellent Linux knowledge - RHCE or equivalent level of knowledge.

*Excellent understanding of IT security best practices.

*Good understanding of IP networking fundamentals, including DNS and firewalling.

*Strong problem solving skills and ability to communicate with clients, liaison across the organisation and communicate well with the IT management and leadership teams.

*Self-directed and self-motivated both as a leader and as an individual contributor.

*A passion for technology - a demonstrable background in self-initiated technology projects/experiments required.

*Demonstrable ability to self-start and self-organise

*Interpret and deliver to a strategic vision for the IT function.

*Demonstrate ability to learn new technologies and evaluate for adoption.

*Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
