Excellent and rare opportunity to join this marketing communications company where you will use your significant commercial experience to work within a development team and with business analysts and strategists, helping define requirements and scoping of web applications needed to deliver the best solution for clients. You will develop relationships that foster ties with clients, identifying their business needs and evaluating, proposing and scoping effective solutions with project management. You will take ownership of projects and guide a team through to project delivery, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards. You will be responsible for helping mentor other members of the team and where appropriate, training through both formal and informal training programs and knowledge sharing. As well as advising new methodologies and processes where applicable, you will identify areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions. You will work closely with the project management and client services teams to maintain an active and effective communication flow.
Person Specification:

Senior development experience and extensive demonstrable experience of PHP and MySQL
Experience of PHP frameworks (preferably Zend Framework)
Understanding of MVC architecture and common design patterns
Expert in XHTML and CSS web builds
JavaScript (native) and frameworks (jQuery/Prototype)
Knowledge of Angular/Backbone/Ember JavaScript technologies is desirable
Excellent knowledge of web application technologies including AJAX
Demonstrable source control experience (preferably GIT)
Basic understanding of server environments and technologies
Basic understanding of performance and optimisation
Experience of automated deployment (Capistrano/Webistrano) useful
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrable experience of working with content management systems
Applied understanding of web services
Demonstrable ability to manage people and monitor project output
Demonstrable commercial awareness, including the importance of planning, forecasting and managing and minimising risk to retain profit margins
A recognised authority who can share and explain the importance and best practice application of coding standards
Ability to identify and propose solutions to resolve browser compatibility issues
Demonstrable experience and understanding of test processes, including the ability to write test plans and undertake testing
The ability to pay close attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (proven commercially)
Good presentation and interpersonal skills
Desirable
Concrete5/WordPress Content management experience
Demonstrable paired programming experience
A relevant degree qualification (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Programming
Evidence of familiarity with project work flow tools
