I am recruiting a Commercial Manager to work with a FTSE 250 Engineering Support Services Organisation in Portsmouth. This role functions within their Marine and Technology Division, which provides vital engineering services to key clients, such as the Royal Navy. Working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, this division works with a number of key clients domestically and internationally. The business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace, as a result they are recruiting for talented, enthusiastic and driven people.

Responsibilities

To ensure the financial and commercial interests and obligations of the Company are optimised and completed in a timely fashion. This role will also support a wide growth agenda that will provide continued sustainability both through organic and new opportunities to high value defence projects.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, to carry out the following activities:

* To serve as a focal point of contact for customers regarding contractual matters by establishing and managing good customer relationships and communications.

* To provide support and guidance to the business regarding pricing, terms and conditions and commercial issues as well as regulatory requirements.

* To provide a key proactive service to support the Programme Manager, Commercial manager and the project teams.

* To challenge and support project teams with respect to project controls, variations, risk management and progress.

* To ensure that proposals/tenders are priced, developed and approved in accordance with company processes and policies.

* To ensure that commercial policies and procedures and regulatory requirements are followed, consistently across the business and improved where necessary.

* To support and lead commercial discussions and negotiations with customers; prepare and review the response to new contracts and amendments to existing contracts and arrange for their approval.

* To prepare/review proposed contractual agreements To support the Supply Chain function in complex sub-contract negotiations; identifying appropriate flow down of terms and conditions.

* Maintain contractual records, documentation of key correspondence, status and reports.

Required Skills and Experience/Qualifications

* Ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Law, Accountancy, or similar.

Experience of:

*

* Risk Management.

* Contract Law and its practical application.

* Contract administration I

* Innovative contract mechanisms.

* Contract cost control / reporting.

* Claims and disputes.

* Ideally, working knowledge of trade controls and ITAR.

* Excel/Cost Models.

* Drafting of contractual agreements, quotations and correspondence.

Attributes:

* In depth knowledge of a wide range of commercial terms and agreements.

* Proactive, effective communicator at all levels, both written and verbal.

* Ability to challenge and support.

* Good interpersonal skills with experience of working flexibly and as part of a team working towards common goals.

* Ability to recognise potential commercial issues and risks.

* Full Driving Licence.
