Be part of the biggest property programme in the country.

This is an exciting time to join HMRC Estates: we’re moving from 170 offices in 2015 to 13 regional centres, five specialist sites and seven transitional sites by 2021.

Our 600+ strong team supplies, manages and maintains our spaces and places, ensuring they’re safe, secure and offer the best environment for our people to deliver HMRC’s mission, and provide value for money for the taxpayer.

We want to become the best estates department in Government, and we’re looking for exceptional information management specialist to help us deliver this.

When it comes to our vision to become the best estates department in government, information management is a critical success factor. Like us, you know that in today's digital age, the speedy and accurate sharing of the right information with the right people is essential. It’s an aspect of business management that cuts across business functions. And it brings multiple implications around harnessing big data, managing employees and complying with data protection legislation.

And that’s exactly where you come in. As our Head of Information Management and Data Exploitation, you’ll sit within Corporate Capabilities - an area that delivers a wide range of corporate functions to enable the smooth running and effective governance of HMRC Estates.

In this highly specialised role, you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues in everything from information management, to digital and data technology, information assurance and cyber security. You’ll ensure that, while we embed new business processes, tools and technology, we remain legally protected and our information is secure.

It will also be your job to manage MERLIN, our new building data platform for all of HMRC’s estate. You’ll oversee the maintenance, management and interpretation of data.

This isn’t just a job for a property professional. It’s a role for someone who brings a background in information management, IT, technical design, or engineering. That’s why we’re looking for someone who brings substantial experience in quantitative data analysis, within a similar data driven role.

You’ll hold at least a 2:2 honours degree in Information Management, Information Security, Digital Data Design, or a relevant equivalent. And, you’ll be qualified in line with GPU professional framework, bringing your expertise and management skills to ensure successful change and transition across the Estates organisation and key stakeholders. Plus, you’ll be a member of the Government Property Profession (GPP), or willing to become one.

In return, you can look forward to a rewards package that includes:

Competitive salary

flexible working hours

competitive pensions

extensive talent, career and personal development, including a minimum 5 days’ training each year

help with caring responsibilities, including special leave

generous paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave

a community volunteering programme, the opportunity to join a trade union, and discounted membership of local and national sports and social groups

salary advances for travel costs, including annual season tickets and cycle-to-work schemes
