Engineering Manager

Hereford

We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join an exciting company in Hereford that are going through a period of growth and expansion at the moment. Ideally you will have experience in both Software and Hardware Engineering - We want a motivated leader to pioneer our Engineering team!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead a Team of hardware and software Engineers as part of a multidisciplinary project team and will suit someone who is interested in challenging new technologies.

- Deep understanding of V-model Engineering lifecycle processes.

- Managing a Team of 5-10 Engineers.

- Design and Implement firmware for embedded platforms: excellent coding skills in C and C++ taking into consideration coding standards such as MISRA.

- Full programming cycle: Requirements capture, Definition, Design, Development, Test and debugging of hardware and software.

- High level of experience with embedded firmware programming in C, C++ and assembler for 8 and 32-bit microcontrollers from ST and Microchip (PICs).

- Familiar with different microcontroller architectures, for example ARM.

- Preferred experience with Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as MPLAB and Keil.

- Experience with RTOS: set-up and start-up for supporting different applications and fulfil requirements. Experience with Free-RTOS and RTX preferred.

- Excellent hardware design skills: able to support hardware engineers with the digital design around the microcontroller, for example, allocating IOs and interfaces such as SPI.

- Graphical User Interface (GUI) design and implementation experience in Visual Studio .NET.

- Experience working with RF (Radio Frequency) chipsets on wireless applications: being able to drive radio chips, familiar with their operation and appreciation of integration challenges in radio systems.

- Experience implementing serial protocol interfaces for RS232, RS485, UART, SPI and I2C: designing command sets, format and syntax and the engine to handle the communication. (i.e. AT Commands). Understanding of protocol stacks such as USB and TCP/IP desirable.

Key Skills:

A minimum 10 years of proven experience as a software Design Engineer in the

development of medium/high volume electronic products.

- A minimum 3-5 years of proven experience as an Engineering Team Leader in the

development of medium/high volume electronic products.

- Engineering Degree desirable.

- Chartered Engineer desirable.

- Experience developing products in the Fire or Construction industry is highly desirable.

- Lean methodologies/Six Sigma experience high desirable.

- Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Excel / Word / PowerPoint).
