Our Central Government client based in Croydon is recruiting for a Oracle DBA.
We are looking for an experienced Oracle DBA with excellent, demonstrable knowledge of working in a multi-licence Oracle environment. The role is to analyse current support management arrangements, deployment methods, and help develop a replacement approach to save the Central Government client money and deliver a better service
The team supporting this project will consist of:
- 2 Commercial representatives
- 3+ Internal technical specialist
- 1 or more business analyst
Primary location will be Croydon, you will be expected to work on-site as required by the manager, with potential travel to other locations across the UK. You will need to be on-site because the role will see interaction with key individuals across the campus and the majority of this interaction will be face- to-face.
Expenses will be within your daily rate for your regular work location. Additional travel expenses will be available should you need to travel to other sites outside London.
The client also supports flexible working (when possible), at the managers discretion,
Key Skills / Experience
* Be able to demonstrate solid Industry knowledge of software licensing with Tier I vendors (Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, SAP, Adobe)
* Have worked in a similar sized organsiation who were looking to move from incumbent Suppliers support arrangements to new 3rd Party options
* Have proven experience and good knowledge of a multi version Oracle estate, utilising multiple licencensing methods
* Have experience of analysing and deploying Oracle effectively to achieve cost savings
* Demonstrate a knowledge of the impact on changing software rights on hardware and operating systems
* Demonstrate strong knowledge of advanced database security, including Oracle Advanced Security options
* Be able to demonstrate that as the estate changes they can develop suitable disaster recovery plans
* Be able to pre-empt any issues that may occur by changing the cleint's approach to Support and Maintenance
* Be able to show that through their intervention, at a major Customer, achieved significant savings and overall improvements
* Be able to obtain SC clearance quickly. Existing SC clearance will be beneficial but not essential
* Be able to demonstrate that they can "hit the ground running", get up to speed quickly, and deliver improvements within the first month of being on site.
* Must be able to develop reports and present findings to all levels
* Show they are OCM certified or similar
* Be flexible in their working approach and willing to turn their hand to new task quickly
* Deliver ideas outside of the box, that if adopted can improve the Clients position further
* Show that their licensing knowledge has been developed through direct interaction with the market.
