Work in progress

At Surrey County Council, we understand that it’s a challenging time for local government. But it’s also a period of great opportunity. We’re ambitious about becoming a modern and effective council, focused on delivering services that help make our area a great place to live and work. Because it’s about time everyone had what they need to succeed. Which is why we’re going through a radical transformation programme. Now, we’re looking for experienced professionals to join our realigned leadership team. Not only is it a chance to be here at the start of our transformation - it’s also an opportunity to make us a more progressive council, and to create a lasting legacy.

As the Director of Intelligence, Analytics & Insight, you’ll provide strategic and operational leadership to develop, implement and evolve our data-led insights capability. You’ll also encourage the wider Council to adopt advanced data analytics and data science best practice. Responsible for the direction and oversight of analytics, reporting and research, you’ll help us deliver innovative solutions and improved services for residents. You’ll also innovate, create and implement an insight strategy that underpins our customer experience aspirations and values. As part of this, you’ll lead the data and insight services that translate data into statistically relevant information. That way, you’ll help drive data-based decision-making across a complex partnership landscape - putting origination and adoption of insight at the heart of our strategies.

With substantial experience of successfully leading data, analytics and information in a complex and dynamic organisation, you’ll come with a relevant degree. Alternatively, you have a related professional or management qualification at post-graduate level. Beyond this, you’re an authoritative and influential figure with highly developed relationship management and networking skills. You’ll also know how to foster joint working across service and organisation boundaries, helping create effective services for residents and communities. It’s vital you have strong, up-to-date knowledge of data reporting and analysis, benchmarking, predictive modelling and risk stratification. Ultimately, it’s about using your leadership experience to bring about new ways of working, and to deliver a culture of change at Surrey County Council - helping to make us a more modern and progressive authority for our local area.

Don’t just talk about transformation, work in progress.
