Description

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join us. This is a new software engineering leadership opportunity within the growing Software Engineering function.

Responsibility with People

The Engineering Manager will have led or acted in a software lead capacity in a software engineering biased organisation where teams are empowered to deliver at pace and relish taking ownership of product features and engineering output. They will have the experience and gravitas to define the capabilities, the team accountabilities and the technical competencies to deliver product features aligned to functional domains.

The Engineering Manager will have the ability to advise, guide and inspire a team, build consensus through reasoned technical debate and occasionally be a sole decision maker. You will have a pragmatic, delivery-focused attitude that wins the respect of colleagues by displaying and evangelising clear technical vision, by promoting ideas generation for solutions to engineering challenges and by experimenting with smarter ways of working.

Key Accountabilities

* Lead all technical design & delivery within the Product domain.

* Managing the collaboration between agile teams for the design and build of changes which cut across more than one team / more than one product domain.

* Owning business change flowing into your team.

* Working with other Senior Technologists to define the approach to system components that span multiple product domains & interfaces between product domains.

What do you need to be successful as an Engineering Manager at RS Components?

* Experience leading a team in a product domain in a technical environment.

* Technical and business acumen to lead a team within a product domain.

* Evidence of having lead software build and guiding technical teams in an agile environment to deliver coherent solutions.

* Talented and effective communicator at all levels and in all mediums.

* Examples of either leading or being an Engineering Manager on technical solutions

* Examples of the journey from monolithic architectures to microservices.

* Your understanding of the pros and cons, and operational challenges, of operating with distributed systems.

* Your experience and expertise in cloud native strategies and continuous delivery.

* Advocacy of test automation and delivery pipelines.

* Familiarity with event driven architectures.

* Your collaborative style - leading empowered technical teams or building software solutions.
