Wilderness Now (WN) is the UK & Ireland’s leading dedicated outdoor adventure marketplace (think AirBnB for hiking, climbing, kayaking, surfing, etc). We are changing the way people can book adventures and engage with guides. Enabling customers to book locally and enjoy personalised experiences. We are launching internationally into additional markets in late 2018 and 2019 and are looking to scale ambitiously.
The adventure travel market is currently worth over $450 billion annually and growing at 65% per year. In the UK we are tapping into the growing trends of staycations, microadventures, more weekend breaks and a healthy lifestyle. The UK outdoor activity market alone is estimated to already be worth $88billion per year (combined for both residents and visitors).
To support our international expansion and product innovation we are looking for a technical co-founder to join us who wants to be part of an exciting start-up on the ground floor. The CTO will own the product roadmap, technology stack, build world-class services and contribute as a partner in the business plans.
Tech Skills & Experience:
Ideally - experience with Python, Postgres DB, Amazon Web Services, Web Development (PHP, HTML, Javascript)
Bonus - experience with UeX design, Django (Python framework), payment system, data science & analytics, interest in marketing tech and user funnels, agile methodology, product management & roadmaps.
Compensation:
Competitive equity and salary split based on experience.
The role:
This is a start-up co-founder & technical lead role (ie - hands on CTO). Working at WN you will get loads of responsibility and experience working on different areas of the business.
In addition to hands on development, you will own the technology stack, day-to-day technical operations and the product roadmap for Wilderness Now. You will also manage 3rd party suppliers. You will work with the other co-founders, business partners, be involved in shaping the business and with fund raising.
