Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit an IT Helpdesk & Application Support Analyst for an initial 4 month contract on a rate of c.£130-150/day (inside of IR35) based in Edinburgh.

Responsibilities:

* Application support, including carrying out initial investigation, fault resolution and escalation, routine maintenance activities and access management.

* Incident management, including providing an effective interface with users and managing requests.

* Managing routine IT infrastructure tasks, such as backup monitoring and routine data management tasks.

* Database management tasks such as security and access management, database maintenance, data loading and investigating database problems.

* There may also be opportunities to carry out software development tasks under the direction of senior developers to maintain data collection software using established tools, procedures and practices.

Requirements:

* Experience of IT incident management and support processes gained in an application support environment.

* Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012 or 2014 administration and experience of using T-SQL for administrative tasks and basic queries.

* Understanding and experience of database systems, data structures and data management principles.

Desirable Skills:

* Exposure to networking technologies such as TCP/IP, switches, routers.

* Experience working with XML technologies, such as XPath and XSLT.
