The Athena consortium comprises of nine forces working together to deliver a ground breaking operational IT system.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Athena Project Manager. The project manager will lead on a number of large, critical pieces of work, supporting the development of operational policing systems, driving efficiency and effectiveness across nine Athena forces. The post holder will be responsible for the overall progress, planning and management of all aspects of delivering Athena projects. He/she will be resilient, with a proven track record of management of complex projects in an end user environment. The Project Manager will be expert in methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects. Preferably, applicants will have a good working knowledge of application development and the challenges of its delivery, as well as excellent skills levels in:

- IT system project planning and management;

- communication (Written and Verbal) and an ability to build relationships, you will be required to report to project boards and liaise closely with Chief Officer;

- budget management;

- benefits management;

- stakeholder management;

- third party supplier management

Ideally candidates will have PRINCE2 practitioner qualification, ITIL Foundation Certificate.

The role will necessitate occasional travel around the Athena Forces and beyond, but much of the post-holder’s time will be spent at Chelmsford, Essex, where the Athena Management Office and many key stakeholders are based.

The role will be offered on a 2 year fixed term contract basis.
