Data Analyst - Melbourne - 6 month contract

Progressive Recruitment is currently working with one of our key clients in Melbourne and resourcing for a Data Analyst on an initial 6 month Melbourne based contract.

The Data team helps make better business decisions by transforming an ocean of data into streams of insight. The Data Analyst will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions and actions. You will identify, analyse, and interpret complex source system data sets, then create data ingestion pipeline to data lake.

Skill set and accountabilities:

* Proven working experience as a data analyst in traditional data warehousing and/or big data environment

* Ability to profile source data and highlight any data quality issue

* Liaison with source system SME and identify critical source data elements

* Experience with multiple Big data technologies and concepts such as HDFS, Hive, MapReduce, Spark, Spark streaming and NoSQL DB like HBase etc

* Experience with specific AWS technologies (such as S3, Redshift, EMR, and Kinesis)

* Hands-on experience in Big Data ETL tools like Informatica big data management or Talend big data management will be a huge plus

* Experience in one or more of java, scala, python and bash

* Ability to work in team in diverse/ multiple stakeholder environment

* Experience in working in a fast-paced Agile environment

* Financial Industry experience is highly desired

* Relevant tertiary qualifications
