Credit Analyst

As the Credit analyst, you will work within a team that is dedicated to analysing; international corporate, bank, sovereign and sub-sovereign and transnational credit risk.

Main Duties

* Be responsible for monitoring and analysing risk profile of credit/business portfolio by risk grade and segment, develop forecast scenario assumptions and monitor actual performance.

* Advise on risk selection, risk structuring and risk pricing in keeping with our business objective and portfolio goals, in a consultancy role

* Assess and advise on individual short and long term transactional risk profiles

* Ensure that all risks have been subject to the agreed approval process as may be amended from time to time

* Review and analyse financial information pertinent to existing and potential obligors and counterparties, as well as the companys insureds, using established financial risk analysis techniques.

* Assist Senior Analyst to provide regular reports on economic developments that may impact the portfolio

* Analyse and review credit risk opportunities using quantitative and qualitative methods

* Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information and determine if additional information is needed to proceed with the insurance of the credit

* Attend client meetings and risk review meetings with the members of team in an advisory and analytical capacity

* To the extent necessary in this role, be aware of and comply with the FSA Principles for Business and. If applicable, the FSA Statements of Principle for Approved Persons

Education and Experience

* 3-5 years relevant credit assessment experience at a bank, rating agency or infrastructure fund, including extensive financial statement analysis. Emerging markets credit analysis experience a bonus

* A background in project finance analysis and/or asset backed loans preferred

* Knowledge and experience of corporate investment grade / high yield / loan markets and an understanding of key issues affecting these markets, and key industry drivers

* Educated to a degree level in finance or economics related area

* Formal credit training would be welcome

* Accreditation as a CFA would be welcome

Skills

* Strong credit analysis experience in a wide range of sectors and geographies, including emerging markets

* An understanding of economic trends and their implication on political and credit risks

* Strong understanding of political risks and how they relate to credit risks

* Ability to analyse transaction structures and propose risk mitigation alternatives

* Ability to analyse complex financial models and stress test scenarios

* High organizational skills and ability to work to a deadline with a high volume of enquiries

* Strong decision-making skills

* Strong communication skills, both in writing and verbally

* Strong interpersonal skills within and outside the organization

* Quick learner

* Language skills would be welcome; fluency in English a requirement
