Solution Architects will be required to define solutions across the product range and not focus on a single product or component.

Solution Architects will:

* Create requirement specifications by interpreting a customers' requirements

* Define high level solutions to meet customers' requirements

* Ensure the solution boundary is defined and that interfaces across boundaries (either in customer or the company systems or applications) are specified

* Articulate solutions to all stakeholders and adopt a position as the solution authority

* Work closely with the delivery team throughout the delivery lifecycle providing guidance and steering to ensure a successful delivery

* Work directly with and assist the customer during acceptance phases

* Position solutions in this companies best interests while recognising and compromising with customers where necessary

* Operate independently on a customer site as a chargeable resource

Key responsibilities

* Create requirement specifications

* Design high level solutions to requirements

* Costing of high level solutions

* Guide delivery teams to deliver solutions as specified

* Assist customers throughout acceptance phases

* Position the businesses intellectual property favourably within solutions

* Define roadmaps for one or more service or product domains

Skills & experience

At the G/H level, the Solution Architect should have 2 years' experience delivering bespoke business system developments (software or infrastructure).

For the senior (I/J) role, a minimum of 5 years' experience is desirable (at least 2 of these at a senior developer/infrastructure level).

These levels of experience are needed to demonstrate ability and gain credibility for the judgement and decision making that they will be expected to give.

They should be able to demonstrate that they are driven by business benefits whilst possessing high technical capability, with a strong adherence to process.
