A huge opportunity has become available for an Area Production Manager to join a Global organisation based in Manchester, to work on one out of three sites in a manufacturing plant! As their Area Production Manager on site you will be responsible for 1 shift manager, 2 team lead operators, 8 operators and 2 admin. You will be responsible for running the operations side on this particular site, which is the Ethanol site and you will be reporting into the Head of Production.

You will a very important individual working at this site as you are responsible for ensuring the process meets customer requirements in a safe and timely manner. You will also be in charge of the Ethanol production process, maintenance and improvement of the quality/safety and environmental performance of the Ethanol area and will report everything back to the Head of Production.

Your role will include:

* Maintain safety standards and looking at health and safety within the site, you must be able to demonstrate continuous improvement in employee safety

* Ensure the Ethanol production process is controlled and maintained to remain within environmental permits

* Drive improvements in food safety standards in the Ethanol production process

* Daily monitoring and review of process performance

* Ensure production targets are met across the team

* Responsible for cost control in the department, budgetary management and staffing plans

* Continuously improvement the reliability of the process to increase plant capacity, yield and quality by working closely with the maintenance team

* Help to maintain an effective preventative maintenance program and develop an effective operator care system

* Improve the skillset of the team and continually develop the team by conducting performance reviews and identifying training and development needs

* Support and promote the use of continuous improvement and reliability

Skills needed for this role:

* Previous experience working in one of the following industry's: Chemical, Oil and Gas, Brewery, Food ingredients or heavy pharmaceuticals

* A degree in Chemical Engineering is desired or a degree in Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineer can also be considered

* Ability to work to tight timescales and budgets

* Previous experience within Production Management

* Excellent leadership skills

* Experience with large scale industrial distillation and evaporation processes would be an advantage
