The Role

As part of their expansion they are looking for a new Applied Data Scientist to work on their flagship SaaS learning analytics product and ground-breaking research projects. Currently they utilise a proprietary method for judging the efficacy of online social learning interactions - and call it Social Learning Intelligence.

This Semantic Analysis add-on for their Learner Record Store implements their Social Learning Intelligence algorithm and gives the client dashboards measuring the effectiveness of social learning.

Ideally, they are looking for a text analysis specialist, to further their semantic analysis work, and to help explore extensions and complementary models to add value for their customers.

You'll need to be a diligent team member, eager to learn, producing quality work and supporting others in your immediate team and around the business.

Responsibilities

- Design, prototype, and implement Machine Learning (ML) models focusing on NLP and Recommender Systems

- Deploy trained models to production, monitor model performance over time

- Keep up to date with state-of-the-art ML algorithms and techniques and be able to apply them when appropriate

- Disseminate work to different stakeholders in an easy to understand way

Requirements

- Deep knowledge of ML algorithms and their feasibility for implementation

- Ability to apply ML theory to address the needs of our customers

- Hands-on experience in developing Machine Learning models, and experience in using Deep Learning libraries, e.g., TensorFlow, Keras, MxNet, PyTorch, Theano, etc.

- Hands-on experience in deploying trained models to production using technologies such as Tensorflow Serving and AWS Sagemaker

- Desire and ability to write production quality code

MSc / Ph.D. in computer science or equivalent experience

Bonus Points

Deep knowledge in ONE of the following areas, with either published research or publicly available code of algorithms:

- Natural Language Processing: Word/Sentence Embeddings, Topic Detection, Sentiment Analysis, Entity Extraction, etc.

- Recommender systems, e.g., collaborative filtering for. content, user, graph based recommendations
