Systems Administrator - 50k

Principal duties and (joint) responsibilities:
Server and desktop infrastructure, security and maintenance.
Software configuration, deployment and management.
Security assessment and vulnerability mitigation of hardware and software estate.
Internal IT project management, capacity and performance management.
Disaster recovery, security and protection of data, auditing and reporting.
Management of IT Engineer (helpdesk).
Management of IT ticketing system to deliver effective and efficient user support; providing onsite and remote solutions / support / departmental technical requirements.
Management of physical office security (alarm system, CCTV, access cards etc).
Recommendation and procurement of systems, software and solutions.
Management of supplier relationships and contractors when on site.
Software licensing, 3rd party maintenance and support contracts.
Phone system configuration and maintenance.
Set up and management of hardware devices (printers, mobile phones, USB etc).
· Any other reasonable duties as required by the business.
Skills/Experience:
Essential:
Significant knowledge and working experience in a similar role with / supporting:
Microsoft server and desktop operating systems. 8.1,10,2008,2012,2016
Microsoft office 2016
Active Directory/Multi Domains/Group Policy/DHCP/DNS/. Exchange 2003-2010. SQL2000-2008. Terminal server/Citrix/VMview.
Basic Linux administration. Apache/mysql.
VMware 6.5, VM Workstation.
HP server technology. DL servers - Blade servers.
SANs, HP storage and tape loaders, Veritas Backup Exec
Firewall, VPN, NAC administration and Web Proxies.
Cisco networking, Netgear switches, pFsense VLANs.
Cisco Unified Communication Manager, VOIP, PBXs.
WAN, QOS, VRRP.
Layered security. Anti-Virus, Smartcards, tokens, vulnerability-scanning, encryption, PKI and certificates.
WSUS deployment and updates
Experience working in a fast paced, challenging working environment, effectively managing competing priorities.
Strong awareness of security threats and approaches to manage security, both physical and electronic.
Customer focused approach; experience supporting technical and non-technical users, providing consistent service but adapting approach where appropriate.
A strong aptitude for diagnosing problems and providing effective solutions.
Proactive and works well as part of a team or alone.
Experience supporting remote users.
Willingness to undergo Government security clearance.
Desirable:
VMWare VCenter
Linux OS preferably Redhat/Ubuntu.
EMC Clariion SANs, Fibre Channel, HP tape loaders.
Fortigate, Cisco firewalls, Cisco VPN's, Netgear, pFsense
Relevant technical degree or proven relevant experience.
