As it is still early in the working week, I will attempt to keep this advert as short and sweet as possible...

I am partnering up with a global enterprise in the financial services and banking space who are looking to hire an experienced Technical Delivery Manager with a background delivering end-to-end software projects. Based in their brand new offices in Manchester, the position is a newly-released role and business critical due to its strategic value within their ever-growing engineering function.

A pretty hybrid role, it will see you essentially look at the whole end-to-end piece from a release management perspective, managing delivery throughout the fuil Software Development Lifecycle to ensure that set timescales are being met. Typically, each release is budgeted at around £1 million and can be broken down into multiple sub-projects so it is crucial you can demonstrate experience managing multiple tech projects at once.

But enough about them, this is all about you (as any half-decent job ad should be).

Specifically, what you need to be able to demonstrate to get involved in this opportunity...

Stakeholder Management - A huge part of this role will involve working with a range of key stakeholders within the organisation (both technical and non-technical) and this will become a regular part of your daily routine. You will be expected to liaise with Software Engineering, QA, Business Analysts and Directors (C-level) so strong communication skills and the ability to convey information articulately is an absolute must.

Application Development Projects - Whilst not absolutely essential, a background in Software Engineering would be a huge benefit as your role will involve working close to the technology, delivering a range of software projects across the full SDLC. The primary tech stack they use is Java and Mobile (iOS, Android) and your role will involve working closely with the engineering team on a fairly consistent basis. Therefore, an understanding of engineering standards, QA and engineering processes would be a huge asset.

Team Leadership - Your role will involve providing a level of technical leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle. You will work with both on-shore and off-shore teams and will work in a matrix-management style environment. Moreover, an understanding of ITIL and Service Delivery Management provisions would be of huge benefit.

Methodologies & Processes - Whilst not a fully Agile organisatiuon (who is these days?), this organisation does try to utilise aspects of Agile methodologies with a focus on Scrum. They operate a mainly hybrid Agile/Waterfall approach so previous experience of Agile/Scrum/Waterfall project delivery, as well as any experience with PRINCE2, would be something worth displaying in your application. If you can demonstrate knowledge and expeirence of a mix of them then that would be even stronger.

Ultimately, you should be somebody who is able to demonstrate a high-level of knowledge around areas such as software delivery, change management, project management and risk management... so they aren't asking for much right?

So if you have managed to get to this part of the advert and are happy enough with the content to consider giving me a shout then I can be contacted on either 0191 338 7540 or 07943721308.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to send me a copy of your CV or even an inquisitive email then you can try [email protected].

Anything discussed will be kept confidential.
