Role Description:

The Security Architect is a professional specialised in Information and Cyber Security with an extensive understanding of information security requirements and capabilities across different industries. They also have a depth of information technology knowledge and proven experience.

The Security Architects provides security design and assurance, operating as an integral member of the design teams to ensure security risks are assessed and addressed from the requirements stage through to solution sign-off. The Security Architect role also provides assurance and guidance through the project delivery stage, assisting in the preparation of security artefacts such as CHECK penetration testing and security policy documents and privacy impact assessments.

The Security Architects have in-depth knowledge of the National Cyber Security Centre frameworks, and best practice implementation.

They are fully aware of industry standards and best practice and can provide Subject Matter Expertise in the design, deployment and exploitation of the security technologies, ensuring that technical designs are aligned to technology and security standards.

Operating Context:

The Security Architect will understand the Trust's Information Security requirements, assess the risks associated with these, and suggest appropriate measure to reduce the overall exposure to those risks, providing a layer of Information Security governance and assurance to the solution in their functional domain areas. Security Architects are also able to operate as part of agile teams, providing security guidance during sprints, at the point of build, helping to put security strategy principles into action.

Tasking:

Typically, the Security Architect tasks will include:

* Define and document security architectures

* Define and document Information Security Classification model

* Prepare System Security Policy documents and Privacy Impact Assessments

* Arrange security penetration testing and remediation plans

* Ensure compliance to Security/Cyber policies.

Qualifications:

* CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)

* CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)

* CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)

* SABSA Chartered Security Architect - Foundation Certificate (SCF)

* TOGAF
