Job Description

Supports the business in designing, developing and supporting including functionality and technology of existing and emerging applications.

Application development may include but is not necessarily limited to system selection and installation, documenting policies and procedures, testing and troubleshooting applications, identifying and implementing solutions to change requests and system incidents, providing training support, implementing and testing system upgrades and maintenance, updating parameters, assist in developing and testing business continuity plans, identifying and implementing enhancements, and identifying new technologies / ways of working that will best meet organisational needs.

You will be implementing systems as well as administration and maintenance of existing systems, providing documentation and training staff in existing business information applications, testing system upgrades and business reports. Any upgrades, releases and enhancements will need to be communicated to relevant departments.

Senior application specialists also provide technical support to fellow colleagues and users. That can be done either in person, via telephone or via e-mail. Application specialists will ensure better usability of systems through incremental enhancements

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Lead Application Specialist, your role will include:

· Provide 3rd / 4th line application support and team leadership as required

· Carrying out application development tasks as a Subject Matter Expert for colleagues and business users

· Day to day review of the 4th line workload work, review team performance

· Stakeholder management within IT&S and business colleagues

· Liaising with Business Systems Manager to provide service improvements

· Developing collaborative relationships with IT&S and business colleagues

Working closely with technical architects to ensure solutions fit well within the end to end target architecture

Identifying learning and development needs of team members in conjunction with Application Team lead and manager-level staff

Skills and Experience

BA/BSc or appropriate degree.

Workday skills will be required for this role.

Team Leadership experience is required.

Extensive relevant technical application experience developing, upgrading and supporting applications

Strong technical aptitude.

People management experience

Experience with business process and requirements analysis.

Strong communication skills

Self-starter and ability to work independently as required yet function well within a team.

Proactive individual who can see issues and projects through to the end

Experience in an IT technical role in a 24 x 7 support environment;

Able to clearly document technical processes and procedures
