Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit a Technical Project Manager for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of £400-500/day (inside of IR35) based in Edinburgh.

Responsibilities:

* Planning and activity prioritisation, taking forward the definition and execution of identified ICT projects or work packages.

* Providing project management capacity to wider business projects and/or work packages as required.

* Establishing and managing project procedures - risk management, issue and change control, configuration management, and communication.

* Establishing and managing project controls - monitoring and reporting.

* Advising Project Boards or equivalent management of deviations from plan and developing and proposing options to recover from the deviation or recommend re-baselining the project if the deviation is so great that recovery to the original timetable is not possible.

* Leading and motivating project teams.

* Maintaining appropriate means and levels of communications with stakeholders on any changes potentially affecting them.

* Identifying the technical resources required to undertake systems development projects and effectively plan, schedule and deliver such projects.

* Establishing contingency plans with backup resources and accommodations for potential delays.

* Ensuring appropriate documentation is produced and updated in accordance with a tailored Prince 2 approach

* Working with colleagues to establish and maintain an effective Project Support function.

* Managing any budget allocated to the project and ensure that any deviations against planned spend are reported according to organizational procedures.

Requirements:

* Highly experienced Project Manager who has ideally worked in the public sector.

* Experience of managing and delivering ICT services and solutions to customers in a corporate or enterprise environment.

* Significant experience of co-ordinating the tasks of technical staff and able to recognise the various methods required to lead and motivate people to deliver within a project environment .

* Experience of managing a range of ICT suppliers.

* PRINCE2 Practitioner.

Desirable requirements:

* Experience of leading ICT network and infrastructure projects.

* Experience of managing and delivering ICT services and solutions to customers within a government security context.

* Experience of leading software development projects.
