SC/DV Cleared Linux Operations Specialist

Outside of IR35

£400-£457 per day

My Government Client require a specialist to provide third line level technical support / problem investigation of any Linux issues within the organisation or their customer's environments. The specialist will own all of the Linux machines within the environments and be expected to suggest improvements to the machines to ensure they comply with current published best practices.

The role will involve day-to-day delivery of support services in accordance with SLAs, resolving incidents/problems which have been escalated from within the GSC Service Desk. The specialist will be required to file a comprehensive record of actions taken and solutions found.The specialist will be integrated with the IAAS cloud team to provide high quality performance to our customers and end-users.

Part of the role requires the specialist to act as the point of contact at a third level for GSC products' incidents and requests logged via the Main Service Desk function.

Essential:

Technical Background:

*Experience of Linux system administration

*Experience and familiarity with defining and maintaining architectures, standards and services.

*Experience of writing high and low level design document sets.

*Experience of architecture, design, implementation and support of high availability virtualized platforms.

*Experience of architecture, design, implementation and support & managing virtual machines within shared multi-client platforms, including:

**Linux-based OS (CentOS 6.x, 7.x and Ubuntu 12.x).

**Nagios monitoring tools

**Foreman o Scripting

**Puppet

*Experience of design, implementation and support configuration of various tools to manage and monitor virtual environments.

*Good networking knowledge.

*Ability to work within an ITIL based service organisation (particularly where project work, planned and reactive maintenance activities interface with the ITIL service processes).

*The ability to work within a team but also individually.

*Critical thinking and problem solving skills.

*Good personal planning and organisational skills (attention to detail)

*Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of dealing with and presenting to staff at all levels.

*Demonstrable practical experience of delivering IT within Central Government

* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

*Good report writing skills.

*Good understanding of Central Government and OGD systems and HM Government security regulations.

*Experience in working alongside many aspects of the ITIL3 environment, such as release to production, problem and change management.

Desirable:

*Knowledge of IT Service Management toolsets i.e. Service Now

*Experience of working within an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL v3) support environment.

*Experience of capacity management and performance tuning.

*Ansible

*Experience of Service Desk toolsets

*Foundation certificate in ITIL Service Management

*Backup Tools

Experience of any of the following:

*UNIX

*SQL
