Senior Network Engineer - DVLA
Permanent position - £49,835 to £60,649 depending on skills and experience
The role may attract an RRA allowance of up to £15k (depending on skills and experience)

We are looking for Senior Network Engineers (lead engineers for design and build) to help build world class digital services on traditional on-premises systems as well as next-generation cloud-based services from providers including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
2018/19 is going to be an exciting period in DVLA IT Services where we are continuing the major transformation of our legacy networking estate to provide high-bandwidth, software-defined connectivity throughout the organisation and we need proven Senior Network Engineers to drive the design, technical implementation and migration elements of this major transformation.

You will have the opportunity to:-
* Provide technical leadership and accountability for their outcomes - within the team and across the IT department
* Take responsibility for large and small changes - including designing and building services, components, platforms and tools
* Work on your own initiative
* Analyse and resolve service delivery issues
* Follow and/or contribute to the development of documented processes
* Monitor technology performance and identify opportunities to improve it - continual improvement ethos
* Develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders across the business
* Work as part of a team to provide knowledge, help and advice
* Develop own skills and actively coach and develop our group of in-house network and security engineers
* Develop an understanding of DVLA's services
* Develop deeper technical knowledge and understanding
* Provide subject matter expertise into current and future IT support contracts
* Contribute to, and support, organisational change and embracing new ways of working.
Essential Criteria - Qualifications & Experience
You will have significant professional experience, relating to:-
* Designing, delivering and supporting (data or voice) network technologies using vendors such as:-
* Juniper/Avaya/Nortel/Cisco enterprise class switching
* F5 or similar load balancing/WAF/DDOS solutions
* Wide Area Network Technologies and Vendor solutions (such as the following routing protocols - BGP, MPLS, OSPF as well as VPN technologies)
* Designing, delivering and supporting firewall technologies using vendors such as:-
* Checkpoint (Linux experience desirable), Juniper or similar firewalls solutions
* Experience in connectivity to and within Cloud technology solutions/providers
* Experience of managing enterprise class Network solutions such as - SolarWinds, NetBrain, NetBox, Spectrum, ZenOss, Clearswift, Cisco Ironports, McAfee IDS/IPS and LogRhythm
* ServiceNow or similar solutions
* Configuring and delivering highly availability solutions within the cloud
You should be certified or be able to demonstrate appropriate level experience in leading network activities in the following vendors: Juniper, F5, Checkpoint.
This should include CCNP/JNCIP or equivalent minimum and ideally working towards or have CCIE/JNCIE or equivalent.
