Key Areas of Responsibility:

* To lead on all matters of Data Protection and Compliance including compliance with legislation and NHS standards

* To ensure the Trust complies with specific legislation, national guidance and best practice within information security and the General Data Protection Regulation 2017 in respect of the requirements of the Information Governance Toolkit and other Trust wide policies so that they conform to current national directives and legislation, and are internally consistent.

* To work with other organisations where necessary to develop and implement interagency and internal protocols for information sharing and confidentiality which will enable staff to have current information when required.

* To ensure that all Trust staff receive professional advice and guidance around the use and management of Health and Social Care records.

* Be responsible for dealing with requests for access to health records under the General Data Protection Regulation (2017) (which supersedes the 1998 Data Protection Act) and the Access to Health Records Act 1991 and dealing with, monitoring and reporting on any resulting queries. Continue to develop the procedures for dealing with this as the journey from paper to Digital continues.

* Develop the necessary IG and records policies, procedures, guidance and implementation systems to meet legislation requirements in collaboration with interested parties.

Essential Experience includes:

o Working in the NHS

o Health Records Management and working with associated legislation and guidance

o Staff management and supervision, prioritising team workloads and training others in areas of personal competence.

o Service delivery and management, implementing policies and procedures in support of strategic business planning.

o Using of Microsoft Office including MS Access.

o Applying and meeting NHS Information Governance Standards
