Development Manager - API Development

Experis are recruiting on behalf of our Client a leading Global Brand for a Software Development Manager to join their technology function in Nottingham to lead and direct their API Development team to deliver customer facing API capabilities associated with their next generation data delivery platform.

A senior technology role, critical in driving simplification agenda across APIs and Frameworks to support the overall Open Platform Strategy.

Some key responsibilities of this role are as follows -

* Successfully execute technology projects, products and teams, releasing major software projects and maintenance releases

* Lead the team to develop core software components

* Lead projects and initiatives with significant risk, complexity and scope

* Communicate and provide technical liaison between management, product, business and operational teams whilst building effective relationships

* Help shape technology strategy and drive execution of the platform

* Support career development of the team (objective setting, performance management, talent management etc.)

* Create an environment and culture that encourages immediate responses to problems and sets expectations and timeframe for resolution with customers or groups managing customers, and manage escalated issues

The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -

* Degree qualified in Computer Science or related subject or relevant demonstrable career experience

* Prior experience in technical lead or development manager role

* Excellent communication skills, able to work closely with and engage senior management, product owners and developers

* Ability to work in and lead in a highly agile team environment

It is not essential for this Development Manager role but would be beneficial to have -

* Knowledge about API design standards, patterns and best-practices

* Knowledge and hands on experience in API security standards and implementation (Oauth, Openld etc.)

* Experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud or MS Azure
