IT Operations manages the IT infrastructure and supporting services that are critical for HSBC employees and customers, such as cost-efficient hardware, system software, middleware and databases, data centres, voice and data networks, ATMs, desktops and other devices.

It employs around 8,500 employees globally and comprises five functions: Client Services, Enterprise Services and Architecture, Data Centre and Service Management, Relationship Management, Project Management and PMO, and Risk and Administration. Collectively, these areas define and deliver HSBC's technology strategy to support the Group's goals.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Development Engineer (Technical Author).

In this role, you will:

* Work with internal teams to obtain an understanding of the product and the documentation requirements

* Analyse existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities

* Create and maintain the information architecture

* Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience

* Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides

* Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

* Thorough understanding of the management processes required to run large multi-country IT installations.

* In-depth understanding of the technical product and platform usages within a large Enterprise Services and Architecture department.

* Infrastructure Tooling subject matter expert and strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux platforms.

* Strong programming and scripting background. Analytical with the ability to understand and resolve complex problems. Sys Admin skill-set UNIX Linux and Windows
