Security Operations Centre Analyst - Leeds City centre - £30,000 - £35,000

SOC Analyst - to 35k

Within the Security Operations Centre you will work as a member of a team to provide 24x7x365 defence against cyber-attacks in real-time; monitoring, analysing and managing security events and incidents originating from client systems and networks.

It will be your responsibility to work autonomously, providing quality and accurate reporting on Intrusion Detection/Prevention services (IDS/IPS) and security alerts arising from Security Information & Event Management systems (SIEM).

Key Responsibilities

You will conduct analysis to determine the validity and risk of real-time security-related events, using SIEM technologies and other security resources, and provide timely and efficient reporting directly to the SOC Manager.

Essential Skills and Experience

* Extensive experience working in IT or within an Information Security discipline.

* Knowledge of or experience working with security technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and Endpoint protection.

* Ability to interpret system data such as security event logs, system logs, and application logs and able to identify developing patterns and trends from knowledge and data.

* Ability to recognise and interpret anomalies in network traffic and/or host log files, relating them to known types of attack such as DDoS, Insider Threat and Phishing.

Desirable Skills and Experience

* One or more years experience in network security, or a security operations environment.

* Qualifications such as Cisco Certified network Professional Security (CCNP Security), CREST Practitioner Security Analyst; ITIL Foundation; CompTIA Network plus certification or similar.
