Role: Scrum Master/ Delivery Manager

Location: Sale, Cheshire

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 3-6 months

* Delivery Manager with immediate experience of running SCRUMs in past 2 projects.

* Must have evidence of delivering successfully GDS led project

* Must have GDS experience and worked in public sector.

* Is an expert working in an multi-disciplinary team.

* Must be scrum certified

As Delivery Manager you will manage one or more agile projects, typically to deliver a specific product or transformation via a multi-disciplinary, highly skilled digital team. You'll be adept at delivering complex digital projects, breaking down barriers for your team and both planning at a higher level and getting into the detail to make things happen when needed.

Defining project needs and feeding these into the programme/portfolio process will enable resource to be appropriately allocated. You will be core to decisions that build high performing teams, where people are excited about the work they are undertaking.

Main responsibilities

* Deliver projects and products using the appropriate agile project management methodology, learning & iterating frequently

* Have the leadership skills to drive a team where you will be driving the team to make a decision and not making one by yourself.

* Work with the Product Manager to define the roadmap for any given product and translate this into user stories

* Lead the collaborative, dynamic planning process - prioritising the work that needs to be done against the capacity and capability of the team

* Matrix-managing a multidisciplinary team

* Ensure all products are built to an appropriate level of quality for the stage (alpha/beta/production)

* Actively participating in the Delivery Manager community, sharing and re-applying skills and knowledge and bringing in best practice.

Skills and experience

* Proven experience in delivering digital projects and products

* Proven experience using a range of agile project management methods

* Proven experience balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity

* Understanding of the digital landscape

* Experience in matrix-managing multi-disciplinary teams

* Good experience of running SCRUM or KANBAN Agile method and client/ stakeholder management experience. We do not want purist. This role will need a mature approach in managing client expectations and will have demand to work above & beyond scrum master activities.

* Being a people's person is key for this role

* Able to run multiple scrum teams ( User research team and development team)

* Able to work in a mixed team such as SCRUM teams made of developers from different suppliers and agencies

* Have a keen interest and understanding of technology such as CICD, BDD, Azure, etc.

* Able to run the delivery pipeline smoothly

* Coordinate work and manage activities between scrum teams and individuals who aren't part of any team within business such as content designer working remotely, service designer, etc.

* Expert in running Scrum/ Kanban ceremonies

* Experience in setting up AGILE environment - Making use of wall space

* Knows how to drive "Definition of done"- A key in this project to avoid any issues

* Expert in driving workshops - There will be demand for running workshops, demos outside the show and tell

* Increase transparency of the work the team is doing and build trust and credibility with the client

* Able to coach or give directions on AGILE manifesto

* Remove blockers and work with teams outside the business

* Setup ways of the working with external teams on which development team will be depend on

* Able to use best practices of AGILE even in a space that is very waterfall

* Should be able to work with the client, their stakeholders and the development team

* Knows how to do AGILE maturity model - ( We can help with that)

* Work closely with project manager and help project manager in identifying technical dependencies to plan the project

* Set up the reporting dashboard on tools such as JIRA/ VSTS and work with Project Manager & product manager to identify what they need to see by end of each day/week/ sprint

* Work with product manager to engage users and SMEs to drive various parallel activities that feeds into user research, data requirements, etc.

* Work with Solution Architect to engage stakeholders from wider end client technical groups and SMEs to drive various parallel activities that feeds into development such as platform, security & data requirements
